Belle

  • DOB: 10/15/2018

  • Sex: Female

Per Belle’s foster family:

Previous owners had a very hectic, stressful, and loud household including a huge dog, two additional cats, 4 young children, two working parents.  It was not a good environment for Belle and she began to urinate inappropriately so they made her live outside (busy street, not current on shots at that time, no physical protection from the elements).  When I brought her to my home it became apparent that she had a digestive issue (fecal sample negative for parasites) evidenced by severe unformed diarrhea-like stool.  I implemented a bland diet (rice and chicken) with a small degree of success, but have since placed her on prescription hydrolized protein dry food and the problem has completely resolved.  (Whether she would need to remain on this diet for the long run has still to be determined.)  She also uses the cat box for both urination and defecation exclusively so the inappropriate urination mentioned above might have been caused by the IBS-like condition and/or the stressful environment.

In spite of my best intentions and the affection I have for Belle, I am unable to keep her. She has been isolated in her own room in my house because she has demonstrated some aggressive toward my other cats. Additionally, my other cats are on a prescription food regimen due to urinary tract issues (bladder stones) and I would have no way of keeping them out of each others' food.

Belle is a nice, healthy girl and I feel she might thrive in a single-cat, calm household.  She gets along well with my small dog.
